New Sales and Business Development Manager, Michael P. Rother

As Manager of Business Development and Sales, Mike will focus on client relationship building and targeting heavy industrial facilities. 

Karen Layng, Scheck’s chief strategic officer and general counsel, states “Mike is an exceptional addition to our team. His 40+ years of experience in construction management and project execution, sales and business development, client relationship building and labor relations will add depth and breadth to our current client services.”  

Mike previously worked for Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC) during construction of the new Prairie State Generating Company Power Plant, a $4+ billion-dollar 1,600 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant project. At Prairie State, his roles included contracts manager, corporate director of contracts and industrial relations, and corporate director of security and industrial relations, responsible for leading contracts and procurement, security and labor relations for PSGC and the several subsidiary facilities that make up Prairie State Energy Campus.

Previously, Mike served as vice chairman of the Council of Owners and Construction Associates, Inc. (COCA), a board member of the Southwestern Illinois Leadership Council (SWILC) and member of the SWILC Labor-Management and Manufacturing Committees. He also served as a Full Board Member-At Large for the IBB Boilermakers Great Lakes Area Apprenticeship Program as well as Managing Board Vice President of the Great Southwestern Illinois Plumbing and Mechanical Association. He earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri (Rolla and Columbia).

In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, two children, and three grandchildren. He enjoys watching football, baseball, tennis and soccer.  Mike played two years on a semi-pro international soccer team, Olympia, in Omaha Nebraska, and coached an elite high school soccer team in Omaha. He was inducted into the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2002. Mike is an active BOD member with the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association in Springfield, IL, as well as with the West County Police Citizens Academy.
